Lucy Stopford and I are already looking forward to 2027!
Based on feedback from our last weekend workshop, we’re going to try a slightly different approach this time: we’ll start with drawing in charcoal on the first day, then move on to painting in oils on the second day. Both mediums offer a way to understand our subject through tone, and render it through layering. There will be practical guidance in foundational skills like facial proportions and colour mixing, along with philosophical emphasis on gesture and mark-making. A challenging yet enjoyable weekend all around!
